MCAT Test
You can
register for the MCAT test online or via postal mail. We do not recommend registering
via postal mail for the MCAT test due to the inherent dangers -- and more importantly the inherent
worries -- that your MCAT test registration will not be lost or misplaced. To register

If you have
any questions about the MCAT test registration, call the exam administrator at (317)

The exam is offered
twice a year, on Saturdays, in April and August. This year, it is offered on
April 20 and August 17. Do yourself a big favor and avoid the $50 late fee by
registering for the exam by the early deadline.

April v. August
We recommend taking the
exam in April for the following reasons:
-
You to retake the
exam in August if your score is low.
-
You can complete
your application sooner.
-
You will be able to
give your AMCAS, interviews, classes, etc more attention.
Saturdays v. Sundays
If you have a conflict
with the Saturday date, you can request to sit for the exam on the
following day (Sunday).
The late registration
deadline is 14 days following the early deadline. The deadlines for online
registration are as of 4:30 p.m. CST for the particular days.
Word of warning:
The exam registration servers get very busy as the deadline nears!
The test consists of 4
subjects:
-
Verbal Reasoning
-
Biological Sciences
-
Physical Sciences
-
Writing
The test writers are
looking to measure your critical thinking, problem solving, and writing skills.
Not surprisingly, these are the same skills that will be tested further in med
school. (You can click here to see what the typical medical school
curriculum looks like.)
